洲仔尾保寧宮

Baozhaotempel is a religious sanctuary in Wanhua featuring stone incense burners, metal censers, and multiple halls dedicated to different deities including Guanyin and Mazu. The spaces are arranged to accommodate worship and reflect traditional architectural design meant to honor the deities enshrined within.

Settlers from Fujian established this sanctuary in 1738, bringing architectural elements that reflected their homeland temple design from Chinchiang County. This founding moment connected the community to its ancestral roots in southern China.

The temple serves as a living place of worship where visitors witness traditional Buddhist and folk religious ceremonies performed daily by the community. The various halls reflect how locals honor different deities as part of their spiritual life.

The sanctuary operates without burning incense as an environmental protection measure, setting an example for other religious institutions in the city. Visitors should be respectful of active worship ceremonies and ongoing gatherings when exploring the halls.

The sanctuary withstood multiple earthquakes and fires throughout its existence, with each rebuilding adding new architectural features while keeping its original core intact. This resilience is still visible today in the blend of older and newer structural elements.
