Former Japanese Army Infantry Second Regiment Dormitories

The former dormitories of the Japanese military consist of multiple buildings featuring classical Roman porticos, ornate columns, and spacious covered porches. The structures spread across the grounds and display carefully designed entrance archways and open covered walkways throughout.

The building complex was constructed in 1911 and served as housing for military personnel during Japanese colonial rule. After extensive renovations, National Cheng Kung University integrated the site into its campus in 1968.

The building carries the name Lixian, meaning respect for the wise, and today houses the Institute of Art Studies. It provides accommodation for visiting faculty and researchers working at the university.

The site sits within National Cheng Kung University's campus and is open to visitors at no cost. Checking with the university beforehand helps clarify access to the specific buildings and any restrictions.

The structure ranks among the few surviving military buildings from the Japanese colonial period and retains its original architectural details despite modern adaptations.
