Old House of Siiao Family, County monument residence in Jiadong, Taiwan.
The Old House of Siiao Family extends over 4,000 square meters and contains more than 50 rooms arranged around two central courtyards.
The construction of this residence started in 1860 by merchants from Guangdong and was completed in 1880, later receiving monument status in 1985.
The residence incorporates five distinct blocks that represent traditional Hakka architecture, including spaces for ancestor worship and religious ceremonies.
The residence walls contain visible bullet holes from conflicts that occurred in 1895 when Taiwan transferred from Qing Dynasty to Japanese control.
The structure contains an entrance hall, ancestor memorial tablets room, and a shrine dedicated to the Gods of heaven and ground.
