Lugang He Qi Villa

Lugang He Qi Villa is a museum housed in a mansion that blends classical southern Chinese architecture with European influences and features multiple courtyards with decorative details. The rooms are furnished with objects that show how a wealthy family lived during that period.

The building was constructed in the late 1800s by a merchant family during Taiwan's transition under Japanese rule. The structure reflects this period when traditional Chinese and new foreign influences met and mixed.

The mansion displays religious objects and traditional crafts that visitors encounter throughout the rooms. These works represent skills passed down by local artisans across many generations.

The museum opens Wednesday through Sunday, and admission is free for all visitors, making it easy to plan a visit. The building offers plenty of space to explore, but it helps to move slowly and take in each room.

The courtyard was once a stage for theatrical performances given for family guests and part of their social life. This tradition of artistic entertainment appears today in the exhibitions held within the historic rooms.
