Lianzuo Mountain Guanyin Temple, Buddhist temple in Daxi, Taiwan
Lianzuo Mountain Guanyin Temple is a Buddhist worship place in Daxi with a pavilion flanked by stone lions and an octagonal ceiling built with layered brackets. The architectural details follow traditional Chinese temple construction methods.
The temple was founded in 1797 by local residents who recognized in the hillside a shape resembling lotus pedestals that support Buddha figures. It underwent several renovation periods, with major work completed into the late 1900s.
People from both Minnan communities in Daxi and Hakka groups from surrounding counties come here to pray to Guanyin and the Gods of the Three Realms.
The temple welcomes visitors throughout the day with flexible access from early morning to evening. Bring water and wear comfortable shoes for exploring the grounds and the surrounding hillside.
This temple uses a rare design with five entrances and a single hall arranged in a linear sequence rather than the typical side-by-side layout. This end-to-end configuration sets it apart from most other temples on the island.
