Daxi District, Administrative district in Taoyuan City, Taiwan
Daxi is an administrative district in eastern Taoyuan that encompasses mountains, rivers, and farmland spread across its landscape. The area includes various settlements and villages distributed throughout the region.
The area was originally inhabited by the Atayal indigenous people, who named the local river Takoham. Later, Han settlers arrived in the late 18th century and established lasting communities.
The district is known for its tradition of wooden furniture craftsmanship, where local artisans in workshops create pieces using methods passed down over generations. This craft tradition shapes the everyday life and business activity of the community today.
Visitors reach this area by bus from Taoyuan Station and Zhongli Station with good connections to surrounding regions. The area is also accessible via National Highway No. 3 and Provincial Highway No. 66.
The area houses the mausoleums of two former Taiwanese leaders: Chiang Kai-shek in Cihu and Chiang Ching-kuo in Touliao. These burial sites are significant locations visited by many people.
