Mamingshan Zhen'an Temple

Mamingshan Zhen'an Temple is a Chinese temple in Baozhong featuring traditional architecture with a striking entrance paifang and large dragon boat displays visible during festivals. The structure showcases classic design elements that reflect the craftsmanship of its era.

The temple was founded in 1662 and underwent several renovations, with comprehensive reconstruction work beginning in 1952 to restore its original architectural elements. This restoration effort allowed the site to retain its historical appearance.

The temple honors the Yimin, Hakka militia members who defended their communities during historical uprisings in Taiwan. Visitors can see this commemoration reflected in the decorations and rituals performed regularly throughout the year.

The temple is most active during local festival seasons when visitors can observe traditional rituals and community gatherings. Visiting outside peak festival times offers a quieter experience of the temple grounds.

During special ceremonies, participants follow the custom of crawling beneath sedan chairs carrying deities to receive protection and blessings. This ancient ritual provides visitors with a direct and personal connection to the temple's spiritual practices.
