Gangkou Temple

Located at the mouth of the Beigang River, Gangkou Temple features traditional brick architecture with red walls and decorative carvings throughout its structure.

Lin Kai, a settler from Meizhou Island, established the temple in 1684, initially naming it Tianhouxing Temple before its reconstruction into a brick structure in 1811.

The temple organizes a substantial Ghost Festival celebration during the seventh lunar month, bringing together residents from six surrounding villages to participate in traditional ceremonies.

Situated at coordinates 23°29′45″N 120°11′09″E, the temple maintains regular operating hours and welcomes visitors interested in observing religious ceremonies and architectural details.

In 2005, plans for temple expansion were cancelled when consultations through poe divination indicated the sea goddess Mazu's disapproval of the proposed construction.
