Fushan Botanical Garden, Botanical research center in Yuanshan, Taiwan.
Fushan Botanical Garden is a research center for plants spread across mountainous terrain between 600 and 1,400 meters (2,000 and 4,600 feet) in elevation, holding more than 700 plant species. The grounds are divided into different habitats that represent varied climates and soil types found across the region.
The land originally belonged to the Atayal, an indigenous people of Taiwan, before becoming a major botanical research facility. This shift shows Taiwan's commitment to studying and protecting its natural plant diversity.
The garden shows how plants from Taiwan grow in different environments, and visitors can see rare local species living naturally. People come here to understand the connection between elevation and the plants that thrive at each level.
A visit requires online registration at least one month in advance, as daily visitor numbers are limited. Bring good walking shoes since the grounds are hilly and you will need to explore multiple trails to see different plant zones.
A 20 kilometer network of paths winds through the garden connecting all plant zones, including an accessible boardwalk near the Aquatic Plant Pond. This path system gives both nature researchers and casual walkers a structured way to explore the grounds.
