Neidong National Forest Recreation Area, National forest recreation area in Wulai District, Taiwan.
Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is a woodland conservation area in Wulai District covering 1,191 hectares across elevations ranging from 230 to 800 meters. The site features multiple waterfalls, clear streams, and thick forest vegetation.
The recreation area was founded in 1984 to protect the natural forest landscape. Following typhoon damage, it underwent major restoration work and reopened to the public in 2018.
The forest serves as a destination where visitors practice forest bathing, a health activity valued in northern Taiwan. People come to spend time among the trees and experience the restorative effects of the woodland.
The site is easy to reach by bus from Taipei, with direct connections available. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and bring rain gear, as paths can be slippery from water and moisture.
The waterfalls here generate a high concentration of negative ions in the air. This natural characteristic contributes to the location's reputation as a place with health-enhancing properties.
