Liu Mansion, Baroque mansion ruins in Minsyong Township, Taiwan.
The Liu Mansion is a three-story red brick building with decorated balconies and windows, standing in Xingzhong within Minsyong Township. Plants now grow over the facade and interior, while graffiti covers the walls, showing the advanced decay of the vacant structure.
The family built the residence in 1929 during Japanese colonial rule over Taiwan, when wealthy rural families often constructed elaborate Western-style houses. The family left the property during the 1950s, and it has since fallen into gradual decay without ever being occupied again.
The name of the Liu family still echoes among residents of the surrounding villages, though the building has stood empty for decades. Some older inhabitants share stories about the family's former standing and the social gatherings that once took place here.
The property is located about eight kilometers north of Chiayi city and is easiest to reach by taxi or rented bicycle. Access to the ruin is not officially secured, so visitors should exercise caution as the structure is decaying and may be unsafe.
During the seventh lunar month, known as Ghost Month, many visitors come here drawn by stories of supernatural occurrences. Some report hearing unusual sounds and seeing shadows in the empty rooms, especially after nightfall.
