Gulliver, Mixed-use skyscraper in central Kyiv, Ukraine
Gulliver is a modern skyscraper in central Kyiv featuring 35 floors above ground, reaching 162 meters high with an all-glass facade design. The building houses retail shops, entertainment venues, and office spaces distributed across approximately 157,400 square meters of combined area.
Construction started in 2003 on a former tram turnaround site and the building opened in November 2013 after experiencing several delays during development. The project underwent significant changes during construction, particularly shifting from its original concrete facade design to the current all-glass exterior.
The building took its name Gulliver in 2011, drawing from Jonathan Swift's literary character and reflecting how architecture sometimes connects to storytelling and imagination.
The building houses around 250 retail brands operating typically between 10:00 and 22:00, making it ideal for visits during standard opening hours. There is ample space to explore and navigate through various levels with a diverse mix of shopping and entertainment options.
The original design called for a concrete facade, but during construction this was completely reimagined as an all-glass exterior giving the structure a modern lightness. This transformation also made it rank among the highest structures in the country with significantly greater visual transparency.
