A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden

The A.V. Fomin Botanical Garden is a major green space in central Kyiv featuring multiple greenhouses and outdoor gardens with plants from around the world. The grounds display thousands of species organized into distinct areas that recreate different natural environments.

The garden was established in 1839 and originally functioned as a research facility for Kyiv University's botany programs. It expanded over the decades into one of the region's major botanical institutions.

The garden serves as a meeting place where people come to learn about plants and nature, fostering a shared appreciation for botanical diversity. Visitors encounter spaces designed to inspire curiosity about the natural world and plant conservation.

The best time to visit is from March through November when most areas are fully accessible. Wear comfortable shoes and allow enough time to explore the different zones at your own pace.

The garden houses one of the oldest living palms in the region, a tropical species that has been seen by generations of visitors. This ancient specimen is carefully maintained in a large greenhouse specifically designed for such delicate plants.
