Zatoka

Zatoka is a coastal settlement on the Black Sea shore that stretches along a narrow sand spit between the Dniester Estuary and the sea. The place offers multiple beaches and various accommodations where visitors can experience beach life and spend time by the water.

The settlement originated in 1827 with the construction of a navigation tower at the estuary mouth, which later developed into a lighthouse station. This early role as a maritime aid shaped the place's importance for coastal shipping.

The settlement reflects the multicultural composition of southern Ukraine's coast, where people of different backgrounds meet and share daily life together. This diversity shapes the open character and welcoming nature of the community.

The settlement is connected via a bridge to the R70 national road and the railway line from Odesa to Bessarabia, making access straightforward. Visitors should plan their beach visits during warmer months when the water and weather are most suitable.

The settlement is home to the port of Buhaz with a single pier, which operates as part of the larger Port of Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky complex. This modest harbor connects the place to regional maritime routes along the southern coast.
