Olshanske

Olshanske is an urban-type settlement in Mykolaiv Oblast situated on elevated ground about 70 meters above sea level. The Southern Bug River flows nearby, shaping the landscape around the community.

The settlement was established in 1961 when construction of a cement factory began in what was then the Varvarivka administrative region. In 1968 the place was renamed to honor a decorated war hero.

The settlement's name honors a Soviet war hero and serves as a living reminder of that recognition within the community. Residents maintain a connection to this commemorative identity in their daily lives.

The railway station connects to the Mykolaiv-Tokarivka line, offering transport links to larger cities such as Odesa and Voznesensk. Visitors should plan ahead since train connections operate on a limited schedule.

The place is closely tied to a major cement factory that enabled its creation and shaped its economic development. This industrial facility remains a central part of the local landscape and everyday life.
