Vilcha, Urban settlement in Chuhuiv Raion, Ukraine
Vilcha is an urban-type settlement located in the eastern part of Kharkiv Oblast, positioned near the border with Russia's Belgorod Oblast. The community spreads across the landscape with residential buildings and maintains road connections to surrounding areas.
Established in 1993, the settlement received residents who relocated from the original Vilcha in Kyiv Oblast due to the Chornobyl disaster. This relocation program provided a new home for families displaced by the nuclear accident.
The settlement layout follows a specific design with cottage-type houses positioned close together to maintain family connections among relocated residents.
The settlement is accessible via the T2104 provincial highway that connects to surrounding regions. Nearby Harbuzivka railway station provides additional transportation links for those traveling to other areas.
In January 2024, the settlement underwent a change in administrative status from an urban-type settlement to a rural settlement due to new legislative measures. This reclassification marked a significant shift in how the community is officially recognized.
