Réservoir Travyansky, lac artificiel sur la rivière Kharkiv en Ukraine
The Travianske Reservoir is a water body located in eastern Ukraine along the Kharkiv River, extending roughly 6.5 kilometers in length and up to 2 kilometers in width. It stores approximately 22 million cubic meters of water with an average depth of about 3.75 meters.
The reservoir was constructed in 1972 to supply fresh water to the expanding city of Kharkiv. Since then, it has served as a key water source for the region and become integral to local infrastructure.
The reservoir serves as a vital water source for the Kharkiv region and has been woven into local life since its creation. The open landscape with water, grasslands, and scattered trees shows how nature and human needs coexist here.
The shoreline is relatively open and accessible, with grassy areas and paths for walking along the water. In warmer months, the area offers opportunities for birdwatching, walks, and outdoor relaxation in a natural setting.
The area is home to various waterfowl species including mute swans, mallards, and great crested grebes that regularly visit the reservoir. This bird diversity makes the site an important habitat for numerous species in the region.
