Kozacha Lopan

Kozacha Lopan is a settlement in Kharkiv Region that spreads along the Lopan River and is shaped by its railway infrastructure. The location serves as a transportation junction near the eastern border of Ukraine.

The settlement was founded in the 17th century as a small fortified outpost and later developed into an important railway junction. This growth was tied to the connection of Ukrainian and Russian railway networks.

The railway station functions as the final Ukrainian checkpoint before Russia, marking a transition point between Eastern European transportation systems.

Access is available through the M20 highway or by train services connecting Kharkiv to the region. The railway station serves as the main landmark for arrivals and getting oriented in the settlement.

In January 2024, the settlement changed its administrative status from urban-type to rural following new Ukrainian legislation.
