Granite-steppe lands of Buh is a protected landscape park in Mykolaiv Oblast in southern Ukraine that stretches along the Southern Buh River. The terrain includes granite canyons, floodplain forests, and meadows spread across a large area.
The area was inhabited for thousands of years by different peoples, from early hunters in the Stone Age to Slavic communities. Evidence also shows the presence of Sauromatian peoples and later Cossacks in this region.
The landscape shows traces of people from many different periods through archaeological sites scattered across the park. These places tell the story of communities that settled and lived in this region.
The area is easily reached from several nearby towns including Pervomaisk, Voznesensk, and Yuzhnoukrainsk. Buses run regularly from Mykolaiv, making the park straightforward to access.
A special section of the river called Protich Hole has natural water conditions that are well suited for whitewater slalom training. This spot draws athletes from across Europe who come to practice their skills.
