Astronomical Observatory of Kharkov National University, Research astronomical observatory at Kharkiv National University, Ukraine.
The Institute of Astronomy operates from central Kharkiv with its observation station located 70 kilometers southeast in Chuguyev.
Founded in 1808 by Grigori Levitsky, the observatory received its dedicated building in 1888 and expanded its research capabilities throughout the following decades.
The observatory maintains a scientific library containing 40,000 books and journals, including collections from astronomers V. N. Karazin and L.O. Struve.
Scientists conduct research using multiple instruments including a 70-cm telescope AZT-8, a spectroheliograph, and a Solar telescope AFR-2.
Thirty-six objects in the Solar System carry names honoring astronomers who worked at this Ukrainian astronomical research center.
