Starobesheve is an urban-type settlement in Donetsk Oblast situated on the right bank of the Kalmius River. The community functions as a local hub with road links connecting it to surrounding regional centers and towns.
Greek settlers from Crimea founded the settlement in 1779 as Beshevo. The place was renamed in 1896 to distinguish it from other settlements with the same name.
The 2001 census revealed a population mix of 52.1 percent Ukrainians, 31.7 percent Russians, and 13.4 percent Greeks in the Starobesheve district.
The settlement connects to surrounding towns and regional centers via local road networks. Visitors can reach various nearby communities through established routes and main roads.
A memorial museum preserves the legacy of Pasha Angelina, a female tractor operator who achieved recognition for her work in the local collective farm.
