Triumphal Arch

The Triumphal Arch in Novhorod-Siverskyi is a limestone gateway structure positioned at the city's entrance with slender columns and decorated capitals. The building follows classical proportions and serves as a recognizable landmark through its straightforward yet refined construction.

The arch was built in 1786 when Novhorod-Siverskyi was elevated to become an administrative center of the region. This construction marked the city's transformation into a seat of formal governance and urban importance.

The structure shapes how people move through the city center and serves as a visual anchor on the main road leading into town. Its classical form with slender columns defines the entrance experience and shows how deeply this monument remains part of the city's character.

The arch sits directly on the main road into the city and is easy to reach on foot when arriving. It is best explored during daylight hours, as you can also spot the nearby monastery complex from this vantage point.

The arch is one of the few surviving examples of late 18th-century triumphal architecture in this region of Ukraine. Its proximity to the Transfiguration Monastery complex creates a meeting point between secular and religious architecture at the city's threshold.
