Mapeera House, Modern commercial skyscraper in Kampala, Uganda
Mapeera House is a 19-story building on Kampala Road with a glass facade that houses banking facilities and extensive office spaces. Three underground levels provide parking for around 100 vehicles and offer approximately 17,000 square meters of rentable office area.
The project was initiated by Cardinal Emmanuel Kiwanuka Nsubuga, with ten years of planning before construction began in October 2007. It was completed in 2012 and became the headquarters of Centenary Bank.
The building is named after Father Siméon Lourdel, the first Catholic priest to arrive in Uganda in 1879, locally known as Mapera. This naming choice connects the modern structure to the country's religious heritage.
The location on Kampala Road places it in the heart of the city's business district, making it easily accessible for work and banking needs. The building offers modern entry points and on-site parking facilities for visitors and tenants.
ROKO Construction Company completed the project with a total budget of around 40 million dollars, making it a significant infrastructure undertaking of its era. The building stands as evidence of investments in Uganda's financial sector.
