Katosi Water Works, Water treatment facility in Mukono District, Uganda.
Katosi Water Works is a water treatment facility in Mukono District that processes water from Lake Victoria through an underwater pipeline. The complex includes multiple purification stages and laboratories that together produce large quantities of drinking water for the region each day.
The project began in 2019 after years of planning to supply Kampala with adequate water. Development came in response to the city's growing needs over the following years.
The facility shows how modern water supply works in Uganda and what international partnerships make it possible. Visitors can observe how different countries and organizations collaborate to serve a city's daily water needs.
The facility is located near the lake, which affects access and visiting conditions. The site includes well-equipped maintenance areas and testing zones that may be available for tours and observation.
The facility uses a dedicated power connection and computer-based monitoring system to link with other water infrastructure across the region. This integrated network allows coordination of water supply across Kampala and surrounding areas.
