Westminster Bridge, Arch bridge in Westminster, England
The Westminster Bridge spans 250 meters across the River Thames, connecting the Palace of Westminster with County Hall through seven wrought iron arches.
Thomas Page designed the current bridge structure, which opened in 1862 to replace an earlier 1750 bridge that experienced concerning movement issues.
The bridge maintains a specific green color matching the leather seats in the House of Commons chamber at the Palace of Westminster.
The structure accommodates both vehicle and pedestrian traffic, providing direct access between Westminster and Lambeth while offering views of Big Ben.
The bridge carries the distinction of being the oldest crossing point in central London's Thames section and features Grade II listed building protection.
