Larchmont, Coastal village in Westchester County, New York, US.
Larchmont is a coastal village in Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York, covering about 1.1 square miles (2.8 km²) with streets shaded by mature trees. The place sits on Long Island Sound and has two separate shopping districts, along with many older residential homes spread throughout.
The area was first home to the Siwanoy people before it became a summer resort in the late 1800s, after the New York & New Haven Railroad arrived. Over the following decades, vacation houses and permanent neighborhoods took shape, transforming the settlement into a year-round community.
The name comes from the larch trees planted along the roads in the 19th century, which still shape how the place looks today. Many residents walk to the train station or stroll through the quiet residential streets on sunny weekends, passing well-kept front gardens.
The train station is a short walk from the center and offers connections to Manhattan in about an hour. Most places within the village can be reached on foot or by bicycle, since distances are manageable.
Flint Park, the largest green space in the village, hosts free outdoor concerts every Thursday in July, drawing locals for a summer tradition. The local yacht club organizes an annual sailing regatta with a history stretching back more than a century.
