Stearns County, Administrative division in Saint Cloud, Minnesota, US
This Minnesota county extends across 1,390 square miles, featuring 166 lakes, rolling hills, and the Mississippi River along its northeastern border.
Established in 1855, the county received its name through a clerical error, meant to honor Isaac Stevens but instead named after Charles Thomas Stearns.
German Catholic settlers of the 1850s shaped the county's development, establishing agricultural traditions that continue to influence the local economy.
The Stearns County Administration Center operates Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM at 705 Courthouse Square in Saint Cloud.
The county maintains 47 square miles of water bodies, including portions of the Mississippi River and the central Sauk River drainage system.
