Knox County extends over 1,140 square miles of land with rolling hills and riverside terrain along the Missouri River and Niobrara River.
The county began as L'Eau Qui Court in 1857, and received its current name in 1873 in recognition of Continental Army Major General Henry Knox.
The population of Knox County includes a mix of residents with 87 percent white communities and 10 percent Native American representation.
The Knox County Courthouse, located at 206 Main Street in Center, provides government services including marriage licenses and birth certificates.
