North Conway, Census-designated place in Carroll County, New Hampshire, United States.

North Conway is a census-designated place in Carroll County that spreads across rolling terrain with the Saco River running along its western edge. The town sits near the White Mountain National Forest and serves as a base for exploring mountain trails and outdoor activities.

The railroad arrived in 1872, connecting the area to the coast and transforming it into a destination for travelers. A Victorian railway station was built in 1874, marking the start of growth as a mountain retreat.

Painters arrived in the 1800s to capture the White Mountain landscapes, and this artistic heritage still shapes how people see the region today. Walking around, you notice galleries and studios reflecting that creative history.

The area has well-marked trails and multiple parking areas for visitors exploring the surrounding mountains. It helps to wear sturdy footwear and check weather conditions before heading out, especially for activities at higher elevations.

Cathedral Ledge rises dramatically above Echo Lake and draws climbers from across the region seeking challenging routes. The rock formation has also appeared in several films, adding to its local renown.
