Belvidere is a city in northern Illinois that stretches along the Kishwaukee River, about 75 miles northwest of Chicago. It has several parks like Spencer Park and Belvidere Municipal Park that provide green spaces and recreational opportunities.
The city was founded in 1835 and was first called Elysian Fields before taking its current name. It became an important agricultural and trading center in the region.
