League Park, Baseball stadium in Hough neighborhood, Cleveland, US
League Park was a baseball stadium in Cleveland's Hough neighborhood, built with concrete and steel that was modernized in 1910. The facility featured a single grandstand behind home plate and covered pavilions running along the first base line.
The stadium first opened in 1891 as a wooden structure and underwent major reconstruction by Osborn Engineering. The 1910 transformation represented a shift toward modern construction standards for baseball venues.
The Baseball Heritage Museum now occupies the site, preserving artifacts and stories connected to both Major League Baseball and Negro League baseball. The collection shows how the location mattered to both baseball traditions.
The site of the former stadium can be visited today, where the Baseball Heritage Museum offers exhibits and information about its history. Visitors should check ahead for opening hours to plan a visit properly.
Joe DiMaggio ended his legendary 56-game hitting streak here in 1941, while Babe Ruth hit his 500th career home run at the park in 1929. Both moments rank among the most memorable in American baseball history.
