Agora Theatre and Ballroom, Music venue in Cleveland, United States
The Agora Theatre and Ballroom is a concert hall in Cleveland in the United States. It contains two performance rooms: a ballroom with space for 500 people and a theatre with 1800 seats.
The building opened in 1913 as the Metropolitan Theatre and hosted stage performances. In 1966 Gary LoConti began transforming the site into a hall for rock concerts.
The name Agora comes from the Greek word for a gathering place. Today the venue continues that tradition, hosting visitors for concerts in a room with high ceilings and classic theatre architecture.
The Agora Theatre is located at 5000 Euclid Avenue in Cleveland and operates without cash. Tickets can be bought online.
An in-house studio started recording concerts on-site in 1968 and broadcasting them on radio under the title Live From The Agora. The series documented early performances by ZZ Top, Kiss and Bob Seger.
