The Lumen

The Lumen is a residential tower standing 396 feet (121 meters) tall, containing apartments ranging from junior studios to penthouses with contemporary finishes and full-height windows. The units command views of Lake Erie and downtown Cleveland.

The tower opened in October 2020 as the largest residential development project downtown Cleveland had seen in the previous four decades. It represented a major turning point for residential growth in the city center.

The name references the theatrical world of Playhouse Square, evoking the role of light in live performance and the glowing theater signs that line the surrounding streets.

The building sits directly beside Playhouse Square, the country's second-largest performing arts center, with direct access to fitness facilities and community spaces. The location makes exploring the theater and entertainment options in the immediate area convenient.

A 15 million dollar donation from the Richard J. Fasenmyer Foundation helped fund the project, showing how philanthropic support can shape downtown development. This financing approach is unusual for large residential projects and reflects local commitment to urban revival.
