Washburn University, Public university in Topeka, United States.
Washburn University is a public higher education institution in Topeka, Kansas, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The campus spreads across wide grounds with academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, and several faculty libraries distributed throughout the entire area.
The institution was founded in 1865 as Lincoln College and received its current name three years later following a major donation from a Massachusetts businessman. Over the decades, the offer expanded to include a law school, a business school, and other programs that remain today.
The campus runs through a residential neighborhood in the center of town and connects university buildings with paths that visitors and neighbors cross daily. Students gather on green spaces between the buildings and use the facilities for study, sport, and meetings with classmates.
The campus is open to the public and visitors can explore the outdoor grounds and main pathways while buildings are usually open during daytime. Parking is available at several points around the grounds, and signs help with orientation between the different faculties.
The law school regularly achieves the highest pass rates on the state bar exam among all institutions in Kansas. Graduates pass the admission test more often than candidates from other universities in the same state.
