Middletown

Middletown is a coastal town in Newport County located on Aquidneck Island, spanning roughly 15 square miles. The landscape transitions from developed western areas to agricultural lands in the east.

The town originated in 1731 when it separated from Newport due to taxation disputes and growing population. It received official status as an independent municipality in 1743.
