The National Shrine of Our Lady of Champion stands 16 miles northeast of Green Bay, featuring Tudor Gothic architecture with an upper Apparition Chapel and lower Oratory.
In 1859, Belgian immigrant Adele Brise encountered three appearances of the Virgin Mary, who instructed her to teach children about Catholic salvation in this location.
The shrine holds specific observances including Fatima Devotions, Sacred Heart Devotions, and monthly celebrations of Adele Brise Day on the ninth of each month.
Visitors can attend daily Mass at 11 a.m., participate in regular confession sessions, and explore the grounds containing an oratory, gift shop, café, and history center.
During the devastating Peshtigo Fire of 1871, the wooden chapel remained untouched while the surrounding area experienced extensive destruction, with nearly 2,000 casualties.
