Jet Star, Steel roller coaster at Casino Pier, New Jersey, US
The Jet Star was a steel coaster at Casino Pier featuring a 538-meter track with multiple curves and drops throughout its route. The ride reached speeds around 50 kilometers per hour while traveling along its steel framework.
This coaster was built in 1968 by German manufacturer Schwarzkopf and began operating at Casino Pier in 1970. It remained in service until 2000, when operations ceased.
The Jet Star was a first-time coaster experience for many New Jersey residents, making it a memorable introduction to amusement park rides for generations of families.
The ride had four seats per car with eight cars operating at the same time on the track. This setup allowed around 800 visitors per hour to experience the coaster.
The ride's chain lift system required 110 kilowatts of power to operate daily. This energy was needed to move and support the 66-ton steel structure throughout its operation.
