Casino Pier, Boardwalk amusement park in Seaside Heights, United States.
Casino Pier is a seaside amusement park in Seaside Heights, New Jersey, that extends on a wooden boardwalk into the Atlantic. The complex includes more than forty rides and a water park called Breakwater Beach right next to the main walkway.
The pier opened in 1932 and became a popular destination for families from the greater New York area. Hurricane Sandy destroyed large sections of the wooden structure in October 2012, leading to a complete rebuilding effort.
The 1910 carousel spins today inside its own museum building and showcases the craftsmanship of early American entertainment culture. Visitors can admire the hand-carved wooden horses and the original Wurlitzer organ, restored after decades of operation by the shore.
All rides and attractions operate through a SURF Card system that visitors can recharge at stations throughout the park grounds. The complex sits right on the boardwalk and is reachable on foot from most hotels and parking areas in Seaside Heights.
The Hydrus roller coaster has a 97-degree drop that exceeds vertical as the cars plunge over the open ocean below. This angle gives riders the sensation of being pushed outward upside down before the track curves back up.
