One Worldwide Plaza, Postmodern skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan, United States.
One Worldwide Plaza is a 50-story office tower in Midtown Manhattan distinguished by a copper roof and glass pyramid at its summit. The facade combines granite and brick in a postmodern design that creates a striking visual presence along the street.
The building was completed in 1989, replacing an earlier Madison Square Garden venue that once occupied the same site. This transition marks a significant shift in Manhattan's architecture from the mid-20th century to the postmodern era.
The building's name reflects its role as a global business hub attracting international corporations to establish their offices here. You can sense this cosmopolitan character simply by walking through the lobbies and seeing the diversity of companies working within.
The building sits directly above the 50th Street subway station, making it easy to reach by public transportation. Inside, find modern office lobbies and numerous elevators designed for efficient access to all floors.
The construction of this building became the subject of a television documentary series and book called 'Skyscraper: The Making of a Building.' This project captured the rare process of watching a modern skyscraper rise from start to finish, turning the work into a piece of popular culture.
