Edison Theatre, Theatre in Manhattan, US
The Edison Theatre, with its 541 seats, stands at 240 West 47th Street within the Hotel Edison building in Midtown Manhattan.
The venue began as a ballroom in 1931 and transformed into the Arena Theatre on May 31, 1950, with a production of The Show Off.
The theatre presented 'Oh! Calcutta!' which ran for 13 years with 5,959 performances, along with productions like 'Me and Bessie' and 'Love Letters'.
The theatre maintained its position as a performance space until February 24, 1991, when it returned to its original function as a hotel ballroom.
Following its theatrical era, the space reverted to its initial art deco ballroom design, connecting its past and present within Hotel Edison.
