Marquis Theatre

The Marquis Theatre is a theater building inside the Marriott Marquis Hotel at 1535 Broadway with 1,611 seats. The auditorium rises through three floors and connects directly to the hotel through several entrances.

John C. Portman Jr designed the theater, which opened on July 9, 1986. It was built as part of a larger development that included the hotel and other facilities at Times Square.

The theatre maintains its position in Broadway entertainment by presenting numerous musicals and theatrical productions throughout each performance season.

Access is available through different hotel levels, with visitors entering from the main entrances or through the hotel lobby. The Broadway location makes arrival easy by public transport or on foot from the theater district.

The theater sits on the third floor of a hotel building and uses special soundproofing techniques. This design separates the performance space from hotel rooms above and other areas of the complex.
