Central Theatre, Theatre venue in Manhattan, US

Central Theatre was located at the corner of Broadway and 47th Street, featuring around 1,100 seats arranged within an Art Deco-designed interior. The building combined distinctive 1920s architectural elements with functional performance spaces.

Herbert J. Krapp designed the building in 1918 for the Shubert family on land previously occupied by a piano manufacturer. This construction reflected the rapid transformation of the area into an entertainment centre.

The venue served as a stage for major musicals during the early decades of Broadway's golden age. Audiences experienced the refined entertainment culture that defined the neighbourhood during that era.

The building offered wheelchair-accessible facilities and nearby parking options for visitors. Those attending performances could easily access the venue and find convenient parking in the surrounding area.

After its time as a theatre, the building was converted into a nightclub before eventually being demolished. This shift in purpose reflects how the area's entertainment venues adapted to changing times.
