Wilberforce, Census-designated place in Greene County, United States.

Wilberforce is a census-designated place in Greene County, Ohio, that is home to two historically Black universities. The area spans several square miles and is crossed by U.S. Route 42.

The community was named after Wilberforce University was established in 1856 to honor English statesman William Wilberforce for his anti-slavery efforts. This university was founded as an institution for Black students and shaped the area's history.

The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center displays exhibitions about African American history and achievements. Visitors can see artworks and historical objects that reflect the cultural heritage of the community.

The location is easily accessible via U.S. Route 42 and sits about 19 miles southwest of Dayton. Keep in mind that this is primarily a university community, so services and facilities may be limited outside campus areas.

Before the Civil War, this area contained seven Underground Railroad stations that helped enslaved people escape to freedom. These stations played an important role in the network that provided refuge and safety.
