Abel and Mary Nicholson House, Colonial house in Salem, US
The Abel and Mary Nicholson House displays Georgian architecture with geometric patterns formed by vitrified bricks across its four exterior walls.
Constructed in 1722 by Quaker settlers Abel and Mary Nicholson, the residence remained within the family until William Nelson inherited the property in 1852.
The building features traditional Delaware Valley patterned brickwork techniques, with skilled craftsmen John Mason and William Petty creating intricate designs throughout the structure.
Located at 127 Fort Elfsborg-Hancocks Bridge Road in Elsinboro Township, the house maintains its original condition without modern electrical or plumbing systems.
The east wall showcases 45 diamond patterns in glazed headers with the construction date 1722 prominently displayed through specialized brickwork arrangements.
