Bedford spans 39 square miles across Westchester County, containing three distinct hamlets: Bedford Village, Katonah, and Bedford Hills.
Twenty-two Puritans from Stamford purchased the Hopp Ground from Chief Katonah in 1680, establishing the initial settlement that became Bedford.
The Bedford Court House, constructed in 1787, remains Westchester County's oldest government building and now houses a museum with local exhibits.
The Bedford Free Library operates three branches across the town, providing residents with access to books through the Westchester Library System.
