Islandia, village in Suffolk County, New York, United States
Islandia is a small village in Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. It consists of quiet streets with neat residential homes surrounded by parks, ponds, and over 275 acres of green space with walking trails.
Islandia was officially established in 1985. The area was previously known as a housing development from the early 1960s before becoming its own community.
The name Islandia comes from the village's location on Long Island. Today the community is shaped by families of Italian, Irish, German, and Puerto Rican heritage who form part of the neighborhood's character.
The village is flat and easy to walk around, with well-maintained streets and parks for strolling. It sits near the Long Island Expressway and has bus routes connecting residents to other parts of the island.
A former headquarters building for Computer Associates stood nearby and was demolished through controlled demolition. New plans are underway to develop light manufacturing facilities on the site.
