1 New York Place features a limestone base structure that reaches only 25 floors of its originally planned 100-story glass and steel tower design.
The Metropolitan Life North Building construction stopped during the Great Depression in 1929, leaving the ambitious skyscraper project incomplete at its Manhattan location.
The building represents the architectural aspirations of 1920s New York through its intended height of 400 meters, which would have surpassed the Empire State Building.
The structure stands near the intersection of Madison Avenue and East 24th Street, accessible from the 23rd Street subway stations on multiple train lines.
Modern architectural firms created digital renderings showing how the complete tower would appear today, including contemporary modifications to the original 1920s design.
