Al's Diner, Historic diner in Chicopee, United States

Al's Diner is a restaurant in Chicopee housed in a steel-clad building with distinctive blue and red enamel bands and features six booths, fourteen counter stools, and a full-length counter with an original grill. The interior follows classic diner design from the mid-twentieth century with all the elements typical of that style.

This restaurant was manufactured by Master Diner of Pequannock and transported to Chicopee in 1958, representing the era of mass-produced dining establishments. It received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000, acknowledging its historical importance.

This place embodies classic American diner culture with its checkered flooring and distinctive patterns on the steel walls that reflect mid-century design. You can experience the genuine feeling of a traditional eating establishment that continues to serve breakfast and lunch as it has for decades.

The restaurant is located in the Willimansett area of northern Chicopee and is easy to find by its distinctive appearance. Breakfast and lunch are served daily, while dinner service is available only on Thursdays and Fridays.

The manufacturer built only about sixty diners across three decades, making each surviving unit quite rare. This establishment is one of just two known examples from this production line that still remain in Massachusetts.
