LeSourdesville Lake Amusement Park, Former amusement park in Monroe, Ohio, US.
LeSourdesville Lake Amusement Park was a leisure destination in Monroe, Ohio, covering roughly 36 acres with rides, a swimming lake, and family attractions. The park operated for eight decades before closing permanently in 2002, leaving behind a site now used for other purposes.
Edgar Streifthau opened the site in 1922 as a swimming spot, converting a former ice plant into a family recreation area. Over the decades, the park grew to include mechanical rides and live performances, becoming a well-known summer destination.
During its peak years, the park hosted performances by notable musicians including Fats Domino and Dick Clark, making it a primary entertainment destination.
Today, the former park site hosts an adult education campus and an RV dealership, leaving little trace of the original attractions. Visitors interested in its past can research archival photographs and local history records before visiting the area.
A wooden roller coaster called the Screechin' Eagle, originally built in 1940 as the Cyclone, stood as the park's final remaining legacy until its removal in 2011. Parts of the ride were stored for potential reconstruction elsewhere, but no permanent relocation has taken place.
