BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Chicago, Hindu temple in Bartlett, Illinois, US
The BAPS Shri Swaminaraman Mandir spans 27 acres and features a structure made from Italian marble and Turkish limestone, following traditional Hindu architectural principles.
Founded in 1972 with small gatherings in Chicago, the temple complex opened in 2004 after 16 months of construction using stones carved by craftsmen in India.
The temple organizes weekly assemblies in the haveli for devotional hymns, alongside regular classes teaching Hinduism, music, Gujarati language, and leadership development.
The temple welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, with specific times for ceremonies at 11:15 AM and 4:00 PM for Murti Darshan.
The temple received the Chicago Building Congress Merit Award in 2004 for its architectural excellence, featuring intricate stone carvings assembled like a three-dimensional puzzle.
